I turn denim jackets into stunning works of art using Pendleton© wool fabric, which I applique to the jacket's back panel. Choose a finished jacket or customize your own with your choice of colors and patterns. Prices range from $59-$69 for a child's jacket to $89-$110 for an adult's jacket. Handwoven rugs from Windy Hill Weavers are so versatile! Hang your rug on a wall or rug ladder, toss it on the floor in front of your hearth, use it to cushion a bench or ottoman, or drape it across the foot of your bed. I've had a fascination with textiles since I was a child, and I've avidly collected them on my travels to Mexico, Japan, Nepal, and Greece. I learned to weave in college, and then went to Japan in 1979 for four months to study the art of silk kimono weaving, Kasuri (tying and dyeing threads in intricate patterns before weaving), and natural indigo dyeing.
I am fortunate to live in Washougal, WA, a small town in the Columbia River Gorge and home to Pendleton© Woolen Mills, creator of iconic American blankets, clothing, and textiles since 1912. Finishing woven Pendleton© blankets produces a by-product called “selvage,” narrow strips trimmed from the blankets’ edges before hemming.
I recycle this selvage for my eco-friendly reversible area rugs, which I weave on two antique looms. The vibrant colors, rich textures, and fine quality of Pendleton© wool gives each rug a brilliant look and a thick, luxurious feel.
My mission is to brighten homes with beautiful, durable, and environmentally sustainable handwoven rugs and other home décor made from Pendleton© wool remnants and fabric. Come see my work at an art show in Washington or Oregon or contact me for a custom order!
